The Viennese film director combines his gift for aesthetics and storytelling with his strong background in photography and graphic design to produce visually stunning and stylish commercials.

As a noted European talent, he went on to make his foray into the US advertising industry with a nation wide TV campaign for Gatorade. The campaign, including three TV commercials: “Leave it on the Floor”, “We/family” and “When No-ones Watching”, was awarded “best commercial” by shoot magazine.

During his formative years, he pursued a business degree in Marketing and Advertising from the University of Economics in Vienna. To supplement his income he started working as an assistant photographer for several renowned Austrian fashion photographers. He later embark on his own career as a freelance fashion photographer.

He later enrolled into the Academy of Film in Vienna to become a film director. During this time he directed his first short film and a promo spot for MTV Europe. Thanks to his theater experience and film skills, he was able to land several assistant director gigs for various commercials and music videos in Austria and Germany.

Together with Martin Weisz and Barbara Benson he started a music video production company based in Hannover, Germany. Focused on the incumbent music video industry, the company specialized in crafting stunning visual designs for music videos, attracting some of the most sought after companies in the Entertainment industry including Virgin Records, EMI, BMG, Motor Music, Universal and Sony Entertainment.

He went on to craft high-profile station designs and direct notable promotion campaigns for Germany’s most popular television stations: Premiere, ARD, ZDF, Viva and Arte. His entry into the lucrative advertising arena came with a bang. In his rookie year as a director, he laded three high caliber accounts directing commercials for Opel, Mercedes and Mannheimer Insurance. Much in demand as a music video director, he directed music videos for such bands as Liquido (Virgin Records), Future Breeze (Motor Music), Grid Locked (EastWest Records), Be (EMI Electrola), Cobra (Motor Music) and most notably the Wu-Tang Clan (BMI).

He managed to established himself as a global player within the international advertising industry with his highly prolific work for Audi, BMW, Ford, Pontiac, Sony PlayStation and Canon, among others.

Flieder was finalist at the New York Film Festival, received a German Art Directors Club Award, was recipient of the European Designer Award, got awarded at the Animago and received the Berlinale young talent screenwriting award.

For his US representation Fritz was first signed to Ritts/Hayden, the production company of Star photographer Herb Ritts before he moved on to acclaimed production house Propaganda Films and later to DNA Inc. the highly reputable production company of Francis Lawrence, Marc Webb and Jean-Baptiste Mondino.

With the birth of his first child Fritz moved back to Berlin, Germany where he started to enter movie business alongside his commercial work as 2nd Unit director for the movie “Spezial” before co –directing the full-length pilot of the TV serial “Rescue Team”.

At the moment Fritz is preparing a feature film in Berlin while continuing his internationally successful career in the global advertising industry.
